Class and Collective Actions

Description of Practice

GERMER attorneys have extensive experience in handling class action litigation in both state and federal courts.  The firm has defended major manufacturers in products liability class actions involving breast implants, tobacco, diet drugs, and computers.  The firm has also successfully defended a utility company in several class action matters, including an ice storm case, an employment dispute arising from a merger agreement, and a fiber-optics trespass case.

Although class action filings have decreased in number in recent years because of changes in the law, the firm's class action docket remains very active.  The firm's current work in defending class action suits includes defense of a utility in which the plaintiffs are seeking nearly a billion dollars for alleged overcharges of Texas customers since 1994 and a suit against an insurance company based upon its exit from certain markets.

Along with attorney experience, GERMER has the resources to handle significant class action cases.  GERMER has qualified staff and advanced technological capabilities to conduct extensive discovery and manage voluminous documents.  The firm has also worked with respected experts across the nation.
