Construction Law

Description of Practice

From contract negotiations to issues arising after completion of a project, GERMER's construction law attorneys are experienced in representing and advising owners, contractors, subcontractors, developers, and design professionals in all aspects of construction law.  Many of the firm’s construction law attorneys worked in the construction industry before attending law school.  They have held offices in the Texas State Bar Construction Law Section and in construction groups and organizations throughout the State, including local chapters of the Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc.  As a result, the firm's construction law attorneys possess an insight into the construction process, including design, development, and technical issues.

The firm's construction law attorneys are frequently asked to assist clients in a wide range of construction law matters including:

  • Contract drafting and negotiations;
  • Complaints and investigations by state and federal regulatory agencies;
  • Lien claims and creditor/debtor issues;
  • Disputes arising during construction and after project completion;
  • Accidents involving property damage or bodily injuries;
  • Disputes over indemnity and insurance provisions;
  • Construction defect claims;
  • Insurance coverage issues; and
  • Arbitration.

Additionally, the breadth of practice areas offered by attorneys in the firm’s three offices enables GERMER to provide prompt and seamless assistance in other areas of the law where disputes may arise during a construction project, including labor and employment law, premises defect claims, corporate and business law, and creditor and debtor (bankruptcy) law.
