Description of Practice

The attorneys in the firm's railroad section possess decades of combined experience in representing national railroads.  The section is comprised of attorneys whose practice is focused primarily on the defense of railroads.  These attorneys have extensive experience in defending the types of cases that are unique to the railroad industry and the legal issues that only arise in cases against railroads.  The types of cases regularly defended by the firm's railroad section include crossing accidents, actions involving injuries to employees under the Federal Employers' Liability Act, employment disputes, right-of-way and real estate disputes, contract disputes, occupational claims, property claims, toxic tort claims, administrative investigations, and navigating jurisdictional and venue laws governing railroads.  GERMER also provides invaluable assistance to its railroad clients before suit, including post-accident representation, and counsel and advice on a wide range of topics facing railroads, including property matters, drafting and reviewing contracts, and in advising with regulatory and statutory compliance.
